Key Stage 1
As children move from Reception they enter Key Stage 1 (KS1). This phase incorporates both Year 1 and Year 2. In KS1 we follow the National Curriculum and its Programmes of Study for the different subject areas.

Phonics
Phonics is taught throughout the school in both Early Years and KS1 and we follow Essential Letters and Sounds (ELS) as our teaching scheme for phonics. Phonics sessions are taught daily in each class and teaching is systematic through the different phases.

Right to Withdraw from Religious Education
Parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE). If you are considering withdrawing your child, we encourage you to speak to the school first so that we can explain how RE is taught and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
If you wish to withdraw your child from RE, please contact the school office or speak to the Head Teacher who will be happy to discuss this with you.
